Search Engine Developer
Role and responsibilities
Our technical team is constantly working on very hard problems from route optimization to scaling the service to maintain performance at massive search volumes. We are looking for a full time developer to join our team and work on search engine development. This will include, but not be limited to:
- Interfaces to new data sources
- Design, specification, and implementation of data stores
- Scaling of back-end systems
- Development and improvement of routing, and search algorithms
- Enhancement of caching
Technical Skills
Essential
- Strong academic record, a graduate in a science or technology subject
- High proficiency in OOP
- MySQL
Advantageous
- PHP 5: OOP, Zend Framework, PHP Unit
- Java
- Python
- Queues e.g. beanstalkd
- MySQL: optimization, replication, sharding
- Distributed key-value stores

Front-end Developer
Role and responsibilities
Our technical team is always working on very hard problems from optimizing search algorithms, to visualization and manipulation of results. We are looking for a full time developer to join our team and work on the web interface to the search engine. This will include, but not be limited to:
- Building new UI features (database right through to ajax)
- Implementation of new designs and layouts
- Optimization, debugging, and refactoring of existing front end code
- Support of SEO activities
Technical Skills
Essential
- Excellent working knowledge of PHP/MySQL and web application development
- A minimum of 2 years commercial experience in PHP development
- High level of confidence in JS/CSS/HTML
- Strong academic record, a graduate in a science or technology subject
